Thank you for your interest in working with YMCA Exeter.

Project Manager (Heritage Lottery Funded)

Part Time (22½ hrs/wk)

Salary £18,000 – £20,000 pro rata (£10,800 – £12,000 actual)

Fixed Term for 18 months / Closing Date: 9am on 8th August 2016

The YMCA is the largest and the oldest youth charity in the world.  It was founded by George Williams in London in 1844, who had attended school in Tiverton and married into an Exeter family.  Just two years later, YMCA Exeter was founded, meaning we have a very strong stake in the origins of the YMCA, both geographically and historically.  We wish to capture the rich history of the impact that YMCA Exeter has made upon the community since our founding, by focusing on particular key periods where we have been influential within the context of our local social history.

We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and skilled individual to proactively lead this project forward with vision and commitment. This will include responsibility for overseeing a team of staff and volunteers to ensure that we capture our historical and ongoing heritage to showcase our continuing relevance and enduring impact.

The ability to build successful relationships at different levels is also essential and an affinity for people both young and old. An avid interest in our local history is indispensable, as well as the skills to research and obtain material from archives in both analogue and digital formats. Good social ability and organisational aptitude will assist in the collection and recording of oral memories. The ideal candidate must also be able to manage the project’s budget and produce monthly status reports for the steering group.
